US HIGH SPEED RAIL ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES HIGH SPEED RAIL 2009 Conference to Draw International High Speed Rail Experts to Washington, DC, Oct. 22-23, 2009
Washington, DC – The US High Speed Rail Association (US HSR) is pleased to announce High Speed Rail 2009: Bringing High Speed Rail to America, October 22-23, 2009, at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC. This two-day conference will bring together the world’s leading experts to discuss how high speed rail has revolutionized transportation internationally and what the future holds for high speed rail in America. High Speed Rail 2009 will focus on advancing the USHSR’s mission: to bring a state of the art national high speed rail network to America.
Conference attendees will hear from the Obama Administration, members of Congress, Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration, international high speed rail experts, profitable private rail operators, financial and investment professionals, engineers, construction leaders, national real estate development professionals and more.
Conference highlights include High Speed Rail Around the World, an interactive benchmarking forum with leading high speed rail experts from Europe and Asia. The group will discuss lessons learned and best practices in high speed rail from their respective countries. Scaling Up the Industry in America will explore the challenges and opportunities in scaling up rail engineering, infrastructure construction, finance, train manufacturing, electrical supply, national standards, regulatory framework and maintenance and operations to meet the challenges of building a national system. HSR - Tracks to a Sustainable America will highlight how HSR encourages and works with regional and commuter rail, metros, electric buses, bicycles and walkable urbanism. This session will cover new opportunities for station area development and transit oriented development (TOD) in America.
