  The conference will be opened by the film 'High Speed Love', followed by a warm welcome from USHSR, UIC, and Members of Congress. The ambitious plans for developing high speed rail in America will be explained by elected officials.
10.30 - 11.00 AM Coffee break
11.00 - 12.30 PM Why High Speed?
  The advantages of high speed rail vs. regular rail and other modes of transport are numerous: high capacity, efficient mobility, sustainability, energy security and a new green industry are among the topics that will be discussed. In this session the HSR lifestyle will also be covered.
12.30 - 2.00 PM Lunch
2.00 - 3.30 PM Scaling Up the Industry in America
  This session will explore the challenges and opportunities in scaling up the industry in the United States for a major national high speed rail project. Topics will include scaling up rail engineering, infrastructure construction, finance, train manufacturing, electrical supply, national standards, regulatory framework, maintenance, and operations.
3.30 - 4.00 PM Coffee break
4.00 - 5.45 PM High Speed Rail Around the World
  The global high speed rail network will be dicussed via an interactive benchmarking forum with representatives from different continents. Lessons learned and best practices in high speed rail from experts in Europe and Asia.

9.00 - 10.30 AM Planning & Financing HSR
  The second conference day starts by explaining the current state of HSR planning in the US. The US goverment funding process and categories will be discussed, as well as different financing possibilities between authorities, banks and construction firms.
10.30 - 11.00 AM Coffee break
11.00 - 12.30 PM HSR - Tracks to a Sustainable America
  Learn how HSR encourages and works with regional and commuter rail, metros, electric buses, bicycles, and walkable urbanism. HSR creates new opportunities for station area development and transit oriented development (TOD).
12.30 - 1.45 PM Lunch
1.45 - 3.30 PM Technology of HSR
  Constructing a high speed rail network means a different technological demand for infrastructure and rolling stock. Learn about the unique qualities and standards for true high speed systems. Topics will include comfort, safety, interoperability, and the concept of publicly owned HSR universal infrastructure.
3.30 - 4.00 PM Coffee break
4.00 - 5.00 PM Panel - Next Steps: Making it Happen
  This closing session will bring together leading thinkers and experts to discuss the next steps in getting the national HSR system under way.
